In February 2021, Long Ashton Together were delighted to be awarded funding from both The National Lottery and Long Ashton Parish Council in order to launch our Digital Support and Connection project.

With the money received from The National Lottery, we were able to purchase office equipment, including a laptop, printer and scanner so that we can connect easier with people who may not be on social media, through posters, flyers, leaflets, etc.

The other part of this project is to help people get digitally connected if they so wish.

With the grant received from LA Parish Council, we were able to purchase five 10 inch tablets, which will be used for training purposes.

The idea is that any resident in Long Ashton who feels they need some support, no matter how small or simple they think the question may be, can contact us for help, totally free of charge.

If the problem can not be solved over the phone or by email, one of our enhanced DBS checked volunteers can arrange to meet either at the person's home or at a public place, whichever the client prefers. Using either the client's own equipment or one of our training tablets, the volunteer will endeavour to help the client understand and feel confident that their issue is resolved before ceasing training.

For this reason, some clients will need longer than just one session.  If the client does not have their own computer, LA Together can loan out a training tablet for the duration of training, meaning they can practice in between sessions too and also has the benefit of the client deciding whether they like the tablet before embarking on purchasing one themselves.

If you or anyone you know are a Long Ashton resident and think you would benefit from this scheme, please contact us either on 0789 807 5486 or email us at info@la-together.org.  Alternatively, leave a message with staff at the Long Ashton Village Shop & Post Office and we will get back to you soon.
